 Fall Sports for 2016

We would like to congratulate our fall sports for another great season for the 2016-2017 school year. Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Soccer had phenomenal turn outs this season as spectators cheered, coaches coached, and players played. We’d would like to thank everyone who supported all the fall sports, and for following WHS Cowboy Creed (Work Hard, Have Integrity, and Show Respect). The Fall Sports statistics and important information can be found below:

Football:

Willcox Cowboy Varsity Football (Division 2A) worked very hard this year, but they never gave up. With many injuries, they trudged through one tough season with a 2-8 overall record. They had the same overall record as last year’s 2015-2016 season. There are two seniors this year: #02 Landon Debaun and #08 Ricky Francis. We hope that they have a successful and bright future after they graduate. The 2016-2017 2A Football Standings:

Region Record: 0-5

Conference Record: 1-7

Overall Record: 2-8

Volleyball:

Willcox Cowgirl Volleyball (Division 2A East) did well this year, winning 11 matches, including a four-game winning streak during the beginning of the season. A job well done to the Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity players for great season. Two seniors were on the varsity team this year: #04 Graciela Rodarte and #10 Lauren Reyes. We hope that they have a successful and bright future after they graduate. The 2016-2017 2A Volleyball Standings:

Region Record: 7-5

Conference Record: 9-6

Overall Record: 11-6

Coached by John Carlson (Varsity), Ashlie Carrasco (Junior Varsity), and D’Angela Franco (Freshman).

Cross Country:

Willcox Cowboy and Cowgirl Cross Country team had a fantastic run this season, continuously improving from start to end. Many on the team have continued to beat their personal bests during meets throughout the season, including Wren Klump, Ian Peterson, and Vanessa Acosta. There were five seniors who participated in Cross Country: Ian Peterson, Scott Neubauer, Josh Collins, Vanessa Acosta, and Spencer Miller. We hope that they have a successful and bright future after they graduate. The Results form Division IV Section II Regionals:

Boys Team: Ninth Place Overall

Girls Team: Sixth Place Overall

State Qualifiers: Wren Klump and Ian Peterson

Coach by Calvin King and Shaye Klump

Good Luck to Wren and Ian as they head to Phoenix to run in the State Meet on Saturday November 5th.

Soccer:

Willcox Cowboy 2A South Soccer Team had one heck of a season. The team only had one regular season loss to Desert Christian and lost to Snowflake in the state tournament. They had an average of four goals per game throughout the season. There are three seniors: #10  Ivan Avina, #02 Orlando Dozal, #01 Damian Lane. We hope that they have a successful and bright future after they graduate. For the 2016-2017 2A Willcox Soccer Standings:

Region Record: 5-1

Conference Record: 9-1

Overall Record: 9-1
